About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Development Manager to lead the design, development, and deployment of AI-based software solutions within Quest Software’s Center for Advanced AI Architecture in Cork, Ireland. This role involves managing cross-functional teams, driving innovation in artificial intelligence and machine learning, and delivering scalable, high-performance applications that solve real-world problems.

As an Engineering Manager you will lead a team of Software Engineers and Data Scientists to design, develop, and deploy cutting-edge AI solutions across industries. Drive innovation, ensure high-quality development practices, and align AI initiatives with business goals.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of Software Engineers, Data Scientists and AI/ML specialists in developing AI-driven applications.

Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and stakeholders to define technical requirements and product roadmaps.

Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and design to testing and deployment.

Ensure best practices in coding, testing, and DevOps are followed across the team.

Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and technologies.

Stay current with emerging trends in AI, machine learning, and software engineering.

Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.

Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

7+ years of software development experience, with 3+ years in a leadership or management role.

Proven experience in building and deploying AI/ML applications.

Strong understanding of AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and modern software architecture (microservices, containers).

Knowledge of frontend and backend development best practices

Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with LLMs, NLP, computer vision, or recommendation systems.

Familiarity with MLOps and model lifecycle management.

Prior experience in a startup or fast-paced tech environment.

Strong architectural and strategic thinking.

Experience with cloud infrastructure and AI model deployment.

Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Experience with cloud platforms (Azure is preferred, AWS, GCP)
