Join us, be part of more.

We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your team:

Centrica Power is at the forefront of the UK and Irish energy transition. Our portfolio spans flexible and conventional generation, renewable energy, energy storage and nuclear. With over £2bn of gross capital deployed, over 600MW in operation and a further 500MW in construction, still we continue with our ambitious growth plans in place, we’re building a Power business that will play a major role in the UK’s low carbon future.

We’re involved in some of the most exciting projects in the sector — from our 20% stake in the current UK nuclear fleet, to our 15% investment in the development of Sizewell C, to leading the UK’s first advanced modular reactor programme with X Energy and renewables portfolio. And that’s just the start. Over the next five years, we’re accelerating investment as part of Centrica’s green growth strategy. This is your opportunity to help shape a business of major strategic significance to Centrica and to the UK’s energy mix.

About your role:

We’re looking for an experienced Project Delivery Director to provide strategic and delivery leadership across the Profile Park and Athlone peaking power generation projects in Ireland.

Both projects are entering a critical commissioning phase, making this a key leadership role responsible for taking the plants through completion, commissioning, start-up, commercial operation and final project close-out.

You’ll lead a multidisciplinary Project Management Team and hold overall accountability across safety, quality, programme, cost, commercial delivery, technical performance and regulatory requirements.

With particular focus on the commissioning and completion phase, you’ll oversee the journey from system completion and pre-start-up safety reviews through first fire, performance and grid compliance testing, operational handover, final accounts and defects and warranty close-out.

This is an opportunity for an established power generation leader to take ownership of two significant infrastructure projects at a pivotal stage of delivery.

What you'll be doing:

Providing overall leadership for the Profile Park and Athlone projects through commissioning, commercial operation, handover and close-out.
Leading the integrated commissioning and start-up programme, including system completion, pre-commissioning, PSSR, energisation, first fire and performance and reliability testing.
Directing multidisciplinary teams across Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, HSE, Quality, Commercial, Project Controls, Grid and Operations & Maintenance.
Overseeing technical resolution across generation equipment, balance of plant, electrical, controls, gas and grid interfaces.
Working with EirGrid and relevant stakeholders to ensure grid testing, compliance and operational approval requirements are successfully delivered.
Leading operational readiness and handover, ensuring training, documentation, spares, asset information and outstanding actions are completed.
Driving project close-out, including punch-list completion, defects, warranties, final accounts and contractual acceptance.
Providing senior commercial oversight across major OEM and construction contracts, including change, claims, variations and contractor performance.
Maintaining strong project governance across programme, budget, risk, quality, HSE and regulatory compliance.
Providing clear reporting and recommendations to project sponsors, Board and senior stakeholders, ensuring key risks and decisions are appropriately managed.

What we’re looking for:

Essential

Extensive senior leadership experience delivering major power generation or similarly complex energy infrastructure projects.
Significant power generation commissioning and start-up experience, from system completion and pre-commissioning through first fire, performance testing and commercial operation.
A proven track record of successfully leading project completion, operational handover and close-out.
Strong technical knowledge of reciprocating engine, OCGT, CCGT or comparable thermal generation assets and associated balance of plant.
Significant EPC, OEM and commercial contract management experience, including contractor performance, claims, variations, final accounts and warranty management.
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across technical, commercial, programme, HSE, quality and regulatory workstreams.
Strong project controls expertise, including critical-path programmes, forecasting, risk and change management.
Exceptional senior stakeholder management, negotiation and decision-making skills.
The ability to lead effectively through complex, time-critical commissioning and completion phases while maintaining strong safety, quality and commercial discipline.

Desirable

Experience delivering generation or energy infrastructure projects within Ireland.
Knowledge of Irish grid, planning, environmental and energy-sector requirements.
Experience working directly with grid operators on testing and operational approvals.
Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
Chartered Engineer, APM Chartered Project Professional, PMP or equivalent professional accreditation.
