This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Compliance Officer (Regulatory Focus) based in Ireland.

As a Senior Compliance Officer, you will play a key role in strengthening regulatory compliance across a rapidly evolving crypto and payments environment.
You will focus on licensing, regulatory documentation, compliance frameworks, and engagement with regulators and external counsel.
The role offers exposure to multiple jurisdictions, regulatory regimes, and complex business models spanning both cryptoassets and payment services.
You will independently translate regulatory requirements into practical policies, controls, evidence, and implementation plans.
Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, you will help ensure regulatory commitments are properly documented and operationalised.
You will also contribute to new products, partnerships, jurisdictions, and business model changes from a regulatory perspective.
This is a senior, high-ownership opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex regulatory challenges and producing work to a high evidentiary standard.

Accountabilities

Contribute to regulatory licence applications and projects, including programmes of operations, business plans, AML/CFT frameworks, safeguarding, governance, and outsourcing documentation.
Build regulatory requirement matrices, application document maps, evidence trackers, and document-control processes.
Prepare and coordinate responses to regulatory RFIs, comments, and requests from regulators, external counsel, and consultants.
Draft, review, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, methodologies, risk assessments, and control descriptions.
Track regulatory commitments following submissions and verify that documented controls are effectively implemented and operating in practice.
Provide compliance advice on new products, business partners, jurisdictions, outsourcing arrangements, and changes to the business model.
Review and advise on complex AML, sanctions, CDD/KYB, and transaction-monitoring escalations.
Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on policies, processes, controls, and business activities.
Conduct gap analyses, thematic reviews, and risk assessments while coordinating remediation of findings, weaknesses, and breaches.
Support regulatory reporting, notifications, audits, inspections, and other supervisory engagements.
Provide compliance guidance and training to business stakeholders.
Manage multiple regulatory workstreams simultaneously while maintaining consistency, accuracy, and strong documentation standards.

Requirements

5+ years of regulatory compliance experience, including at least 3 years within regulated payments, e-money, cryptoassets, or a closely comparable fintech environment.
Hands-on experience drafting regulatory applications, compliance policies, or AML/CFT frameworks, with clear ownership of the resulting documentation.
Practical knowledge of at least one relevant authorisation framework, such as UK EMI/payment services, UK MLR cryptoasset registration, EEA EMI/PI, MiCA/CASP, or Jersey VASP.
Strong understanding of the regulatory differences between EMI/PI, CASP/VASP, and AML registration perimeters.
Ability to independently interpret primary legislation and regulatory guidance and translate requirements into practical compliance measures.
Working knowledge of AMLD/FATF standards, sanctions, outsourcing, governance, and related regulatory requirements.
Understanding of how transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, blockchain analytics, and case-management controls are designed, implemented, and evidenced.
Experience using Sumsub, ComplyAdvantage, Scorechain, Fireblocks, or comparable compliance and financial-crime tools.
Understanding of investigations, escalation processes, and SAR/STR reporting governance.
Fluent professional English with excellent written communication and regulatory drafting skills.
Ability to work independently within European business hours and travel occasionally to an EU office.
Experience coordinating regulatory applications through submission, RFIs, and decision stages is an advantage.
Experience working within an authorised EMI, PI, CASP, VASP, or another regulated financial institution is preferred.
Experience with business-wide risk assessments, customer-risk methodologies, safeguarding, and outsourcing documentation is beneficial.
Familiarity with regulatory RFIs, audits, inspections, interviews, and application trackers is valued.
Exposure to businesses combining cryptoasset and payment services across B2C and B2B environments is a plus.
Background in a regulator, specialist regulatory consultancy, or law firm combined with in-house implementation experience is advantageous.
Knowledge of DORA, operational resilience, data protection, and regulatory reporting is desirable.
Independent SAR/STR filing experience is a plus.
A degree in law, finance, economics, risk, or compliance, together with CAMS, ICA, CGSS, or a comparable certification, is preferred.
