Two Junior Software Engineer positions are currently open at Algorithmiq. Both positions are primarily open in Ireland, but we accept applications to other sites too.

About us
Algorithmiq is a global quantum computing software company headquartered in Milan Italy and with an international team representing over 20 nationalities. Our multidisciplinary, collaborative approach drives everything we do. Our mission is to program quantum computers to solve the world’s hardest problems and build the software that will unlock the practical value of quantum computing. We have strategic partnerships with world-leading teams at IBM, Microsoft, Rigetti, Cleveland Clinic and world-renowned research institutions to tackle some of the most important challenges faced by our clients.

We have created a culture we love and are proud of. We’re a hard-working bunch with a friendly, close-knit, and transparent environment where trust underpins everything we do. As we scale, we’re committed to keeping this culture and our values at the heart of every decision we make.

What we do
At Algorithmiq, we develop advanced quantum software that enables quantum computers to solve computationally demanding problems beyond the reach of classical methods. Our work spans a wide range of applications, from chemistry and materials discovery to optimization and life sciences, helping bring practical quantum advantage closer to reality. We see some of the most transformative opportunities in healthcare, where quantum computing has the potential to accelerate drug discovery, improve patient outcomes, and unlock new approaches to understanding and treating disease.

Our recent achievements being the sole winners of the $2 million Wellcome Leap Q4Bio program with our partners Cleveland Clinic and IBM, launching commercially available quantum software through IBM’s Qiskit Functions Catalog, and advancing quantum-enabled drug discovery applications with leading pharmaceutical and healthcare partners. We also launched the Quantum Advantage Tracker, a global initiative promoting transparent and rigorous evaluation of quantum advantage, helping shape the future of the quantum computing industry.

Who are we looking for?
As Junior Software Engineer at Algorithmiq, you will work in the product and technology team with a focus on developing products for the efficient and accurate use of today’s quantum computers for application across verticals including pharmaceuticals, life science, optimization, and materials science tasks. You will be part of a growing team of software engineers developing cutting-edge products to solve the hardest problems in quantum computing.

This is a very exciting area and demands innovative solutions. We are looking for candidates with outstanding problem-solving skills and eagerness to grow their software development toolbox. This role suits computer engineers/scientists/physicists/chemists with a proven ability to develop software. You should apply if you are keen to create products that can have an immediate impact on near-term quantum computing. We are looking for someone who can turn their hand to a range of software development problems and is not afraid to push their boundaries to learn professional software development within an ever-evolving field.

Preferred hires in our hubs (Dublin/Milan/Helsinki/London), but remote locations can also be considered.

What you will be doing

Build and evolve cutting-edge software products for quantum computing and quantum algorithm development.
Design, implement, test, and maintain high-quality software with a strong focus on reliability and usability.
Collaborate closely with researchers to translate novel quantum computing research into production-ready software.
Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and technical design discussions to maintain a high engineering standard.
Work directly with state-of-the-art quantum hardware to solve real-world computational problems.
Gain first-hand experience in applying today’s quantum computing devices to useful problems.
