The Opportunity

Brightflag is at an inflection point. After launching a multi-product strategy and scaling rapidly across a number of verticals (E-Billing, Matter Management, and Vendor Management), we're now building the platform layer that ties it all together — and we're hiring the first Principal Technology Product Manager to own it. This isn't a role that inherits someone else's roadmap. You're building the platform function: the API framework, MCP server strategy, identity and access, notifications, reporting, and the shared platform that every vertical product team depends on. 🚀

As a genuine force multiplier across the entire product organisation, you'll partner directly with engineers and architects on the hardest, most technically ambiguous problems — not to delegate them, but to go deep personally. You'll define how Brightflag's platform scales, build the intake and prioritisation mechanism that keeps three ambitious vertical teams aligned, and set the technical bar for what 'built right' looks like at Brightflag. The work you do here gets reused everywhere — that's the definition of real impact.

You'll be working with a sharp, collaborative product and engineering team in a remote-first environment, with monthly touchpoints in Dublin and an annual trip to New York. Brightflag sits at the intersection of legal technology and enterprise SaaS — a genuinely interesting domain where platform decisions carry real commercial weight. If you're a seasoned Platform or Infrastructure Product Manager who wants to step into a founding role with full agency, a clear mandate, and the technical depth to back it up, this is the one.

What You Will Be Doing

Own product strategy and roadmap for Brightflag's Platform pillar: API framework, MCP server, identity and access (IDP), notifications, reporting, audit, and AP/PS tooling — the infrastructure that vertical product teams build on rather than rebuild themselves
Treat the vertical product teams as internal customers. Build and run the intake and prioritisation mechanism that resolves competing requests from the vertical product teams and make trade-offs transparent when demand outpaces capacity
Own Brightflag's MCP server strategy end to end
Partner directly with engineering on architecture, sequencing, and build-vs-buy trade-offs across platform domains. Default to fixing the underlying architecture over shipping a workaround, even when the workaround is faster
Define and track platform health metrics: internal team adoption, API and tool reliability and latency, developer onboarding time, incident response, and audit trail coverage
Write technical documentation and API/tool contracts clear enough that internal engineers and external developers can build against them without coming to you first
Go deep personally on the hardest, most technically ambiguous problems in the platform rather than delegating them upward or outward
Represent the platform's roadmap and trade-offs credibly to vertical team leads and engineering and product leadership, without formal authority over either
As AI-assisted engineering increases delivery speed, reset team rituals so discovery and outcome validation scale alongside it — coach the team to avoid mistaking faster shipping for progress
Shape team norms for responsible AI-assisted engineering jointly with tech leads, and mentor other PMs on building effective partnerships with engineering

Skills & Experience

To be successful in the role, you need:

7+ years in product management, with a meaningful share on platform, infrastructure, identity/access, or developer-tools/API teams — not purely customer-facing feature work
Technical foundation (computer science, engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience) that enables credible engagement in architecture and protocol discussions. Comfortable reading an API or MCP spec and reasoning about trade-offs
Direct familiarity with identity and access management concepts (OAuth 2.0/2.1, OIDC, SSO, directory sync, least-privilege access) and/or API platform patterns (REST design, webhooks, rate limiting, versioning)
Strong API taste: a point of view on what makes a tool or endpoint easy to build against, defensible down to individual parameter and permission-scoping decisions
Bias toward root-cause architectural fixes over point patches, even when the patch is faster to ship
Comfortable operating without a clean backlog — able to build the mechanism that sorts out competing demand from three vertical teams with their own roadmaps and opinions
Technical credibility — not to write code, but to engage as a genuine peer with architects and engineers.
Intellectual curiosity and comfort with ambiguity — this is a first-of-its-kind role at Brightflag with no playbook. The right person is energised by that, not unsettled by it
Stays objective under pressure, owns responsibility for decisions and innovation, and maintains a healthy, sustainable pace for themselves and the team

Exposure to MCP, function calling, or agent tooling is a strong plus given this role owns Brightflag's MCP server strategy. Genuine curiosity about this space is required even if direct experience is limited
