Position Title: Youth Worker

Location: Based in Lucan Youth Service

Work Schedule: Part-time – 18.75 hours per week.

Contract: Permanent Post

Salary: €38,769 PRO RATA

Reporting to: Manager of Service

The Role:

To deliver youth programmes, focused on young people identified as most in need in Lucan.
To spend 70% of working hours in direct contact with young people with an emphasis on disadvantaged.
To drive programmes such as the Music Programme and the Big Tree Arts Programme.
To ensure programmes fit within the Youth Work Process and Models of Youth Work.
To work a minimum of 2 nights per week and weekends as requested.
To organise residentials as part of the youth work programme.
To attend and participate at staff meetings within the service.
To represent the youth service, when requested, at various committees.
To submit all paperwork within a specified time period.
To apply for relevant grants related to the ongoing work in consultation with your Line Manager.
To work within the ethos and values of Crosscare.
To implement the Crosscare Strategy.
To attend all essential and relevant training to keep upskilled.
To manage challenging behaviours and situations as they present.
To carry out other duties as assigned by your Line Manager.
Develop and maintain positive community relationships.
Work collaboratively with other projects within the Lucan Youth Service.
Work collaboratively with external interagency, family support teams, and youth diversion projects when required.

General Responsibilities:

Work evenings and weekends as required, with a minimumof 2 nights expected.
Perform administrative duties associated with the role including relevant record keeping on the Logbook and UBU reporting forms.

Essential Requirements:

Have a third-level qualification in youth work and/ or a minimum of 3 years' experience working with young people at risk.

IT Skills, (MS Office essential, experience in database use desirable)

Experience in dealing with Child Safeguarding Issues.
Full clean driver's license and own transport
Experience working with young people, particularly those from disadvantaged & multicultural backgrounds
Knowledge of youth work principles and informal education methodologies.
Strong communication and facilitation skills.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
Excellent organisational skills, time management, and record keeping
Excellent report writing skills
