The Land Development Agency (LDA) is a commercial, semi-State body that seeks to maximise the supply of affordable homes on public and other land in a financially sustainable manner, supporting the creation of thriving communities and delivering ongoing positive social impact. It is overseen by an independent board of directors and is funded with €5 billion of equity capital committed by the Government. It is also permitted to borrow up to €1.25bn

The LDA has commenced construction on a number of projects on State land and has a delivery pipeline in excess of 17,000 homes. It also works in partnership with the country’s largest and most experienced homebuilders and will deliver a further 8,000 homes under the Government’s Project Tosaigh initiative.

Additionally, the LDA is working on large-scale longer-term strategic areas by master-planning and bringing forward planning applications in locations such as Limerick Colbert Quarter, the Digital Hub in Dublin and Sandy Road in Galway.

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this role represents a fantastic opportunity for a commercial finance professional to work within the Commercial Team supporting the Development and Delivery teams of the LDA. The Commercial Accountant will work collaboratively with Finance, Investment, Governance & Operations and also the wider LDA team. The successful candidate will assist the Agency in making sound commercial decisions through preparation of budgets, cost analysis, assessment of risks, facilitation of audits and will have significant reporting responsibilities. The position offers an excellent opportunity to work on the Commercial aspects of a wide range of transformative residential and regeneration projects across the country through the full development life cycle. As the LDA continues to evolve, this role and its responsibilities will also evolve to meet the Agency’s needs.

The ideal candidate will possess all necessary commercial and financial acumen required to support the delivery of landmark projects, will be an excellent team player with the drive, strong work ethic and adaptability to respond to the exciting challenges of the LDA mandate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The main duties of the role will include but not be limited to the following:

Support the preparation of departmental budgets and assess KPIs across development projects and opportunities.
Assist in the maintenance of Project budgets and cashflows
Complete finance reconciliations of project costs and finance records.
Assist with management and oversight of monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc reporting requirements.
Liaise with Development and Construction Managers to manage and report on Budget Variances.
Contribute to the development of Management Information Systems and the maintenance of information flow through those systems.
Act as a liaison between Business Units and the Finance function.
Assist in the coordination of tax advice from external consultants for various projects.
Liaise with internal & external auditors where appropriate.
Other duties as may be required based on the evolving operational requirements of the LDA.

Person Specifications/Requirements:

Newly Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) Proficiency with bookkeeping software/applications.
Excellent relationship management skills (both internal and external).
Exercises sound judgment, tact, diplomacy, and professionalism Demonstrate a positive "can-do" attitude, maintain confidentiality, and be an effective team player
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel & Word.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Ability to execute in relatively ambiguous and complex situations, prioritizing and juggling multiple actions at once, work independently, be self-motivated and action oriented
Strong work ethic with the ability to work on own initiative.
Experience within the Construction / Property sector is a significant advantage
