Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)

Permanent Part-Time Position – 19 Hours per Week

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) within the Bon Secours Health System.

Job Purpose

The Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care will provide expert clinical care, advice and support to patients with life-limiting illness and their families. The role involves working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to promote best practice in palliative care, support staff education, and contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of palliative care services.

Essential Criteria

The successful candidate must:

Be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
Have completed, or be committed to completing, a Postgraduate Diploma in Palliative Care
Have a minimum of 5 years post-registration nursing experience in an acute setting
Have at least 3 years’ experience in palliative care or a relevant clinical area
Demonstrate effective leadership and communication skills
Have proven clinical, professional and leadership experience
Demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative and effectively manage their caseload
Demonstrate the ability to initiate and manage change
Show a strong interest in palliative care and the future development of services
Possess IT and computer literacy
