The Role:

The Asset Management and Sustainability area is responsible for the development of asset policies, strategies and plans to determine the significant investment required into Ireland’s infrastructure. The area drives investment and the Sustainability and Innovation agenda for the organisation and leads on Environmental Regulation and Compliance activities, ensuring the quality of water and wastewater is continuously monitored. The Asset Management function is responsible for strategic planning, prioritisation, and development of Uisce Éireann’s Capital Works pipeline. The function plays a key role in promoting collaboration and co-ordination of activities across the three asset functions as well as providing environmental assessment and management expertise across Uisce Éireann.

The Asset Investment team is accountable for developing and managing Uisce Éireann’s investment portfolio in line with business objectives and long-term strategies. The function is required to develop and manage the investment portfolio to ensure the investment portfolio is optimised against business constraints. They also support the business in achieving its required business outcomes, including information requirements and conducting post investment reviews for capital investments.

Reporting to the Investment System Manager, the Investment System Technical Lead is responsible for ensuring the consistent adoption of the Asset Investment Planning System within the business, working with various areas of the business (AP, IDD, IT etc) to achieve optimum functionality from the Asset Investment Planning System.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the management and maintenance of the Asset Investment Planning system (Copperleaf) to enable the effective management of projects and programmes that underpin the Uisce Eireann investment plan
Responsible for ensuring the application of UE governance standards related to investment planning consistently to the development and delivery of programmes and projects
Responsible for ensuring the system supports strategic planning, forecasting and decision making process
Responsible for system configuration, performance and reliability to ensure it meets organisational requirements
Responsible for monitoring the quality and accuracy of data for Investments, liaising closely with the Business on adopting a ‘right first time’ approach
Responsible for establishing and enforcing data standards and validation processes, and data governance practices
Responsible for providing guidance and training on the use of Asset Investment Planning System (Copperleaf) to ensure effective adoption and use of the system, liaising closely with stakeholders to maximise functionality to suit their needs
Act as the key point of contact for system users, facilitating knowledge sharing and best practices
Responsible for embedding new ways of working with the business, driving consistency of approach
Responsible for collaborating with the business to tailor the system to the evolving needs of the business, identifying opportunities for maximising functionality to assist other teams
Responsible for identifying continuous improvement opportunities for system and process improvements, developing and implementing solutions
Support the management of a monthly governance and reporting cycle

General Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business
Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards
Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives
Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation
Other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Relevant third level qualification and or accreditation is desirable
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable and/or relevant experience
Ability to develop and maintain effective strategic partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally and offer guidance and support to make the right decisions
Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion along with the ability to communicate information to others
Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions
Previous experience of data analytics, working with complex datasets and enterprise systems preferred
Demonstrable experience in continuously developing and improving ways of working
Highly motivated individual, working to the highest professional and ethical standards with proven ability to deliver results
Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements
Skilled in continuously reviewing safety practices and suggest ways for improvement
