General Function:

Moog is currently seeking a Product Engineering Manager, who will report directly to the Senior Product Engineering Manager for Moog Commercial Aircraft Group OE & AM (CAG).
The post holder will manage the functions of the Product Engineering Group containing a group of engineers which provide engineering support for the Commercial Aircraft Sector’s programs on site at the Moog MRO facility in Dublin, Ireland. In general terms, the Engineering function supports the Moog MRO quality, delivery and cost objectives by:
1) Being responsible for NPD Process in alignment with strategic growth
2)Maintains product integrity to support production delivery to meet the needs of our customers
3)Identifying and facilitating the implementation of improvements within the business
The post holder will be the engineering representative on the Moog MRO leadership team and the Form 4 holder for Moog MRO Services. The post holder will be a conduit between the engineering resources at Moog MRO and the technical CAG resources globally.

Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelors Degree in a Science and/or Engineering discipline (or equivalent demonstrated experience).
Individuals must demonstrate a proven technical expertise in the repair and overhaul of aircraft hardware, with a specific focus on fuel-engine accessories, precision hydraulic components, or other related technologies.
It would be highly advantageous if candidates possess a good awareness of aircraft engine technology and are up-to-date with market trends in this field. A solid understanding of regulatory requirements is required for this position.
Proven general capabilities in areas of Root Cause / Corrective Action, LEAN, Project Planning, Product line transfer and Data Acquisition and Analysis.
The successful candidate will need strong mentoring and leadership abilities. Additionally, candidates require who have demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Nature and Scope of the Position:
In this position, the post holder will have reporting to them: Product Engineers, Engineering Technicians, Technical Library Administration. This may be subject to change in line with the business needs.
The engineering group ensures product flows through the business from receipt into the business and is responsible for the direction and coordination of all engineering activities necessary to successfully ship the hardware to the customer. Temporary workload and/or special talent considerations may occasionally dictate the assignment of special projects to the team which may fall outside of normal work scope.

Specific areas of responsibility and tasks for the post holder is to lead a reporting group with the following areas of ownership:

1) Provide proactive day to day engineering support to production assembly and test areas by resolving issues, maintaining product integrity and influencing product cost.
2) Develop repair capability for Moog and 3rd party products within the framework of customer contracts and regulatory requirements (FAA, EASA, CAAC, Etc.)
3) Initiate clear production assembly/test instructions to operations personnel to maintain efficient production.
4) Take responsibility for ensuring issues impacting quality, cost and delivery performance are identified and addressed promptly.
5) Define and schedule the development of equipment to meet production requirements for operations department, for example assembly fixtures and tools and test equipment.
6) Provide support as required to other departments to maintain and improve product quality, first pass yield (FPY), production schedule, and product cost objectives.
7) Utilize common and/or develop unique repair processes to reduce turnaround time (TAT) and repair costs for out of/or in production repair or replacement parts.
8) Work within a team environment and utilize lean principles to incorporate world class repair processes into regional (global) commercial repair shops.
The post holder must be a self-starter willing to make sound decisions and initiate action without prior counseling or direction. They must possess the technical knowledge and the personal integrity required to earn the respect of subordinates and other functions.
Additionally, the post holder must be capable of converting a very general definition of goals and objectives into well-defined tasks that support the business objectives.
Willingness to travel is also required.
Accountabilities:
• Organize (who works with whom), allocate (who works what), direct (prioritize), and motivate the resources of this group to provide engineering support consistent with company objectives.
• Coordinate with the site leadership team and the shop supervisory staff to provide adequate engineering support to ensure successful fulfillment of shipping commitments.
• Assuring and maintaining product integrity and quality in production products in collaboration with other Moog resources.
• Build and maintain strong relationship with key stakeholders within the business to ensure objectives align with the long-term strategy.
• Ensure direct reports have objectives which help the business achieve its strategic objectives and the team develop.
• Provide ongoing direct technical support to the engineering group.
• Identify opportunities to develop talent through regular appraisals of direct reports.
• Support the coordination of site initiatives such as lean and process improvement activities.
• Define budgetary needs, both capital and personnel, required to support the Product Engineering tasks.
• Assure the acceptance and practice of fundamental safety principles by employee and management.
• Represent the business on engineering matters to external organizations, such as customers and suppliers.
