Job Purpose

The Warehouse Operative supports the efficient day-to-day operation of the warehouse by accurately picking, packing, handling, and delivering goods while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, productivity, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Accurately pick and pack products in line with order requirements
Handle batch-controlled and expiry-dated products, ensuring correct stock rotation (FIFO / FEFO)
Load and unload trailers and delivery vehicles safely and efficiently
Transport and deliver goods in accordance with schedules provided by the dispatcher
Secure loads correctly and ensure weight limits are adhered to
Verify the quantity and condition of goods during loading and unloading
Report shortages, overages, damage, or discrepancies promptly
Operate truck/van units and material handling equipment safely
Report vehicle defects or maintenance issues to the appropriate department
Carry out general warehouse duties, including material movement, equipment operation, and record keeping
Assist with inbound and outbound shipments as required
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
Build positive working relationships by acting in a professional and courteous manner
Perform other duties as reasonably required

Health, Safety & Compliance

Comply with all warehouse health and safety rules and site-specific procedures
Use provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly at all times
Follow safe manual handling and equipment operation practices
Participate in mandatory training and refresher sessions
Support a positive safety culture by identifying and reporting hazards or concerns

Skills & Experience

Previous warehouse or logistics experience desirable (but not essential)
Minimum of one year’s relevant experience preferred
Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification
Strong attention to detail, particularly when handling batch-controlled or expiry-dated products
Ability to meet targets in a fast-paced environment
Good communication and teamwork skills
Physically capable of manual handling tasks

Licences & Equipment

Valid truck or van driving licence required
Experience using material handling equipment (pallet jacks, forklifts) is required

Working Environment & Physical Requirements

Industrial warehouse environment with exposure to noise, machinery, temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases
Work may involve operating vehicles and equipment and working at height
Physical duties include lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 75 lbs with or without assistance
Regular bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, standing, and repetitive movements
Ability to sit for a minimum of two hours continuously
Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
