Overview

VIOTAS is seeking a Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to lead our commercial strategy and develop the commercial capability needed for the next stage of the business.

The remit is broad: market strategy, go-to-market, customer proposition, pricing, pipeline, customer retention and account growth. We are looking for a commercially ambitious and analytically rigorous leader who can turn strategy into results and build a commercial organisation that performs consistently across markets.

The CCO will play a central role in deciding where and how VIOTAS competes. They will also ensure that commercial opportunities are properly understood before commitments are made — commercially attractive, economically sound and deliverable by the wider business.

About VIOTAS

VIOTAS was established in Limerick, Ireland in 2013 to tackle one of the major challenges created by increasing renewable generation:

How do you keep an electricity grid balanced when more of its power comes from variable and less predictable sources?

Our answer was to develop technology that allows electricity customers and flexible energy assets to become part of the solution.

VIOTAS manages electricity consumption, generation and other flexible assets in real time, bringing them together into Virtual Power Plants that can participate in electricity markets alongside conventional generation.

This creates value for customers while helping electricity systems accommodate more renewable generation.

Today, VIOTAS has more than 110 people and operates across Ireland, Poland, the USA and Australia. We are continuing to develop the business internationally while strengthening the commercial, operational and technology capabilities needed to support that growth.

The Role

The Chief Commercial Officer will:

Define and lead VIOTAS's commercial strategy, including choices around markets, customer segments, propositions, partnerships and routes to market.
Turn that strategy into practical go-to-market priorities and repeatable approaches that can work across different markets.
Lead the development of our customer proposition, pricing approach, commercial models and major partnerships.
Bring greater consistency and discipline to CRM, pipeline management, deal qualification, forecasting and commercial performance.
Ensure that significant commercial commitments are properly tested before they are made, with the relevant commercial, operational, technical and financial inputs considered.
Lead and develop the commercial organisation, building strong leadership capability and reducing reliance on individual people or personal networks.
Improve how we acquire, retain and grow customers, with a strong focus on long-term customer value.
Bring customer, competitor and market insight into product development, technology priorities and wider business decisions.
Develop routes to market across direct sales, strategic partnerships and other channels appropriate to each market.
Work closely with colleagues across Operations, Technology, Finance and our market businesses to ensure that commercial ambition is matched by our ability to deliver.
Contribute fully as a member of the executive team to company strategy, investment decisions and the major opportunities and challenges facing VIOTAS.
Continue to develop the practical use of data, analytics and AI in commercial decision-making and execution.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a proven senior commercial leader with experience in a complex, technology-led B2B environment.

The right person is likely to have:

A strong track record of delivering commercial growth and building high-performing teams.
Experience shaping commercial strategy, not just executing against an existing one.
Strong capability across enterprise sales, strategic partnerships, proposition development, pricing, deal structuring, pipeline management and forecasting.
Experience building or materially improving a commercial organisation or go-to-market model.
Strong analytical capability. We expect important commercial decisions to be supported by evidence, numbers and clear reasoning.
Good commercial judgement, including knowing when to push an opportunity, when to reshape it and when to walk away.
Experience leading through other senior people and, ideally, across more than one market.
Credibility with major customers, partners and senior internal stakeholders.
The ability to work effectively with operational, technical and financial colleagues when making complex commercial decisions.
An interest in how data and AI can improve commercial insight, productivity and decision-making.

Experience in energy, electricity markets, grid services or adjacent infrastructure sectors would be useful, but it is not essential. We would also consider candidates from other complex technology-led B2B businesses where the experience is clearly transferable.

What Success Looks Like

Success in the role will mean:

VIOTAS has a clear commercial strategy and better evidence behind where we choose to compete.
Our proposition, pricing and commercial models are stronger.
Pipeline quality, CRM discipline and forecasting improve.
Commercial commitments are made at pace, but with the right level of challenge and evidence behind them.
Customer retention and account growth improve alongside new customer acquisition.
The commercial organisation becomes stronger and less dependent on a small number of individuals.
Market and customer insight has a greater influence on product, technology and investment decisions.

Why Join VIOTAS

VIOTAS operates in a technically complex and fast-changing part of the energy sector.

We have spent more than a decade building technology and market capability that allows electricity customers and flexible assets to play a meaningful role in the operation of modern electricity grids.

The CCO will have significant influence over what comes next: where we compete, how we go to market, the customers and partners we work with, and how we build the commercial capability needed to support the business as it develops.

Job type: Full-time, permanent

Location: Limerick (Hybrid), with international travel

Compensation: Competitive executive package, including base salary, performance-related remuneration, participation in the VIOTAS Management Share Incentive Plan or equivalent, and other benefits commensurate with experience.
